Upvote EmailVerify

Let only real students, employees or members into your server. EmailVerify sends a one-time code to the address a member enters, checks it against the domains you allow, and gives them the right roles automatically. Used by 2,400+ servers since 2021.

1. A member clicks Verify and enters their email, for example name@university.edu
2. They receive a 6-digit code, valid for 15 minutes
3. They enter the code and get their roles instantly

• Domain rules: allow only the domains you choose, with wildcards like *.edu or *.harvard.edu
• Roles per domain: *.edu gets Student, company.com gets Staff, plus default roles for everyone
• Unverified role for newcomers until they verify
• Auto-verify on join: new members get the prompt automatically
• Blacklist for specific addresses or patterns
• One email, one account: an address can’t verify several accounts
• Log channel for audits and manual verify for edge cases

Email addresses are stored only as hashes. Hosted in the EU, with a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) available for organisations. Open source (AGPL-3.0) and self-hostable with Docker.
