The Mottled Butterfly is a Warriors and Dungeons and Dragons inspired literate roleplay. This roleplay takes place in a dark fantasy world, where life is cruel and short. Cats in the Duchy of Aclaine have formed societies to support each other in this brutal world, protecting each other from everything from diseases to carnivorous plants to the humans they’re surrounded by. In the Mottled Butterfly, you will take the role of a small cat in a very large and dangerous world, trying to survive.
There are three distinct factions of cats in the Mottled Butterfly. There are the Mousers, a group of cats who live within the Castle Aclaine alongside the people who live and work within. The Mousers hunt the rats and vermin, and see it as their divinely given purpose from the humans around them. There is the Flower Colony, who live in the fields of tall grass and wild flowers across the river from the human settlement. The Flower Colony cats have rejected the human worship of the Mousers, and instead support themselves with the resources of the wild. Finally, there is the Toadstool Colony, who live in the dangerous fey-infested woods. However, the Toadstool Colony cats have struck a deal with the Fey, and live among the monsters and creatures in the woods free from harm.
