Understudy Discord Bot

Understudy is an all-in-one Discord community management bot from Gettin’ Low Productions (GLP), built to handle the work that normally requires an entire stack of separate bots.

Moderation, AutoMod, leveling, member profiles, tickets, role menus, welcomes, custom commands, announcements, embeds, events, giveaways, polls, temporary voice channels, server statistics, economy systems, music, community games, server security, game-server integration, and much more are brought together under one bot with a full web dashboard.

But Understudy wasn’t created just to make the bot list shorter.

GLP was created around a simple idea: give the power back to the players.

We saw communities relying on piles of bots and paying recurring subscriptions for functionality we believe should often be part of the basic toolkit for running a community. Understudy is our answer to that.

Our goal is to provide a genuinely useful free experience instead of making “Free” another word for “demo.”

There will be optional paid tiers after beta for higher limits and advanced functionality, but our approach to deciding what belongs behind a paywall starts with a different question:

Should a community have to pay for this?

If we don’t think it should, we want to make it available without forcing you into another subscription.

Understudy is currently in beta, and the standard public experience is presently locked to the Free tier while testing continues. Approved GLP testers may receive access to additional functionality during beta. Final pricing for paid tiers has not yet been determined.

Understudy gives moderation teams a central set of tools for protecting and managing their communities.

Moderators can warn, timeout, kick, ban, temporarily ban, softban, purge messages, maintain staff notes, review prior actions, and configure escalation rules.

AutoMod adds configurable protection against unwanted words and patterns, spam, invite links, excessive mentions, links, duplicate content, and other unwanted behavior.

Moderation activity can be centralized through Understudy’s logging and dashboard systems so staff have a useful history instead of isolated moderation commands with no context.

There is currently no donation requirement to use Understudy, and the bot’s standard public beta experience is free.
